Since 1979, Phoenix House California has provided recovery and rehabilitation services to thousands of men, women, and teens struggling with addiction and dependency. Our professional, experienced staff provides evidence-based services that help patients draw from their strengths to lead healthy, productive, and rewarding lives. Recognizing the long-term nature of recovery, Phoenix House addresses patients' behavioral health issues through a continuum of care, including prevention, early intervention, treatment, and recovery support throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Phoenix House California: We're currently seeking a Unpaid Human Resources Intern.

What You'll Do

The intern will be exposed to the following work through the partnership with the Human Resources team:

  • Assists with Risk Management and Worker's Compensation processes
  • Assists with performance management and leave documentation
  • Provides assistance to the recruitment process
  • Assist with reporting, gathering and tracking data to evaluate trends and presenting outcomes
  • Assist with electronic file audits and data entry in compliance with policies and procedures
  • Provide general administrative support to align with HR projects and initiatives
  • Work on special projects and tasks as assigned

Skills We're Seeking:

  • Academic, work experience or exposure to Human Resources and project management
  • Ability to communicate to internal and external clients and colleagues with a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic environment
  • Able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and willingness to roll-up sleeves to get the job done
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Educational Status:

  • Equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college
  • Current enrollment in upper division courses of a bachelor's degree program with a major in Human Resources Management, Business Management/Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
